U.S. Supreme Court Scheduled to Make “Constitutionality” Rulings on Reform Laws

The U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to make historical rulings regarding the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act’s “individual mandate” or “minimum coverage” provision. Even if the “mandate” is deemed unconstitutional, there will be plenty of debate as to whether it can be severed from the rest of the legislation. They will be hearing testimony in March and will likely give their ruling in June or July.

HRAs Providing Annual Benefit Levels Below $5,000 No Longer Required to Report

According to new guidelines issued by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), beginning October 3, HRAs with benefit levels under $5,000 need not report. The new guidelines also specify how reporting HRAs should address participants whose benefit is exhausted mid-year.
