What is Billing Services?

A

Billing Services (formerly COBRASecure Premium Billing) is a product administered using COBRASecure Online. On an employer’s behalf, we invoice for a variety of premium types, like Retiree and Leave of Absence (LOA) Billing, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Billing, and Short or Long Term Disability Premium Billing. While we do not track eligibility, Billing Services offers a simple solution to collect premiums and remit them to the employer.

What billing frequencies are available?

A

Currently, we support a monthly billing frequency for all of the billing types above.

Where would we see Billing Services members in COBRASecure Online

A

Billing Services members are listed in COBRASecure Online as Special Plan Members (SPMs). Their billing plans are entered on the SPM Plans tab of the Client Level

Q

How would an employer notify us to start billing for an SPM?

A

Employers can enter SPMs directly into COBRASecure Online, complete a Billing Services Notification Form, or submit SPM information through an SPM File Feed.

Q

Do we track eligibility for Billing Services the same way we track eligibility and timelines for COBRASecure?

A

No. The employer must tell us when to start billing and when to stop billing for an SPM. If an employer knows the Billing End Date for an SPM at the time they notify us to start billing the SPM, then we can enter that at the same time, and the system will stop billing the SPM automatically.

Q

Can we send carrier notifications for SPM plans?

A

Yes. However, if an SPM is entered with a retroactive start date, no carrier notice will generate.
