Yesterday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released Notice 2017-67, which provides Q & A guidance on Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangements (QSEHRAs). QSEHRAs were established under the 21st Century Cures Act enacted on December 13, 2016.

Today the IRS announced under Revenue Procedure 2017-58, the 2018 annual inflation adjustments for more than 50 tax provisions, including the tax rate schedules, and other tax changes. Included in the announcement is the inflation adjusted 2018 limits for health flexible spending accounts (FSAs) under an IRC §125 cafeteria plan and the Parking and Transit account limits under an IRC §132 Transportation Plan.

IRS Announces New PCOR Fee

IRS Notice 2017-61 provided the updated dollar amount to be used to calculate the PCORI fee for health plan policy and plan years that end on or after October 1, 2017 and before October 1, 2018. This includes 2017 calendar year plans, and the updated fee amount is $2.39 per covered life.

Health Care FSA Limit Projected $2,650 for 2018

The CPI was released yesterday and Thomson Reuters has reported today, the projected inflation adjustments for 2018 for health, charitable, compliance and other specialty items. Most notably a projected increase to the 2018 Health Care FSA Limit of $50 or an annual maximum is $2,650 per plan year.
