Accounts Payable Specialist - 1185

Be a part of a growing 100% employee-owned company! Employee Benefits Corporation is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Accounts Payable Specialist position. This position provides financial and administrative services to support the accounting, financial reporting and control functions related to corporate accounts payable and client disbursements.  This position works collaboratively with the accounting team to provide backup support and assistance with various corporate and client accounting activities.

Specific responsibilities include:  ensuring timely processing of corporate accounts payable transactions; auditing monthly and quarterly broker commission statements, maintaining vendor records in accordance with company standards; ensuring mathematical accuracy, approvals and proper GL coding for Accounts Payable transactions and timely processing and tracking workload for unclaimed property responsibilities.   Uploading Positive Pay check issuance files and working to resolve discrepancies, reviewing and resolving ACH returns, as well as responding to inquiries regarding payment status both internal and external are also a part of this role.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field and a minimum of two years related experience or equivalent experience, as well as the following: 

  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • One year experience applying accounting practices and knowledge in a customer centric office setting
  • Accurate, organized and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, utilizing proper grammar, syntax and excellent business acumen
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Possession of valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

 Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor degree in Accounting and previous experience working with COBRA and  tax advantaged benefit plans.
